Could you tell us a bit more about what you do at this company?
We have our headquarters in San Jose, California, and are a true virtual phone service pioneer. Virtual PBX gives companies of all sizes the opportunity to integrate PBX solutions of top-notch enterprise quality in their infrastructure. Our service is targeted at a broad spectrum of customers, including startups, SOHO users, small and medium-size businesses (SMBs), larger enterprises, franchises, virtual offices, and virtual call centers.
Our productlines have some of the richest feature sets in the industry with things like outbound faxing, music on hold, custom auto-attendant, inbound and outbound faxing, professional greetings, call recording, TrueACD queuing, conferencing and much more.
Why did the founders of your company start a virtual phone system business?
Virtual PBX, Inc. was founded in 1997 by a voice-based application developer Steve Lange, who is now our Chief Technology Officer. Lange is regarded to have coined the term virtual PBX. The concept for Virtual PBX came to Steve Lange as he was writing a completely different kind of application. He wanted to automate a call center for a client through which a person could call in and be routed to different departments. He quickly realized he needed a phone system to work with but didn’t want to buy one. Therefore, he decided to build one himself. Soon the idea of the Virtual PBX was clear.
Before the company first introduced its VirtualPBX® service, PBX's were costly to implement and the advantage of having one was a privilege granted to only large businesses with deep pockets. With the invention of Virtual PBX, smaller businesses could finally have the look and feel of a fortune 500 company for a fraction of the cost.
Video: What Virtual PBX Has To Offer
What differentiates Virtual PBX from the other players in this market?
Our solution is the only hosted PBX system with TrueACD queuing, which is by far the most advanced ACD technology available. Our patented technology offers a range of great features including optimization of queues, skill-based routing, overflow queues and even load distribution.
We’re founded on the idea of non-proprietary, open systems. We follow all standard open-systems standards and work with any kind of phone, in any location. In addition, we don’t push clients toward a particular phone media. Most competitors push either analog or VoIP telephony, while we offer a truly blended system. Clients can mix and match landlines, VoIP phones, cell phones, smart devices, computers, and more.
What are the core values of your company?
From the beginning, our objective has been to keep communication costs and complexity low so that small- and mid-sized businesses can have the capacity and features to fuel growth and meet their business objectives. Virtual PBX® provides PBX and telephony disaster recovery services empowering companies to implement enterprise level PBX solutions without the high costs of equipment or service-maintenance contracts. In addition, as we continue to focus on delivering superior products that meet the need of our customer, innovation is a top priority.
Has the growth of Virtual PBX over the last few months been good?
Since the introduction of our Virtual PBX Complete system in February of 2011, Virtual PBX has increased its traffic by nearly 50%. Receiving nine Consecutive Awards, this new business VoIP service delivers everything a business needs to provide professional phone service for customers, prospects and employees.
Today, the need for business virtual phone solutions is high with more businesses turning to VoIP to stay competitive. As more businesses switch to a hosted telephone service, Virtual PBX expects the market to continue growing.
What's in store for the future of your business?
Virtual PBX clients will continue to use our system in two different ways. Some will use us to create a business front end for existing phones, making their business more professional by improving their productivity, image, and business management. Others will use Virtual PBX as an entire phone system, giving them a professional image and great features such as the ability to take the office with them wherever they go. In the future, more and more people will use Virtual PBX as a whole phone system as VoIP technology continues to grow.
In addition, as we have done for 15 years, we will continue to add features and capabilities to help clients connect better with their customers and better manage their business.
What is the culture in your company like?
Virtual PBX has always been both high tech and high touch. The guiding principle for this management team and the company is, “customer issues transcend all others”. We are dedicated to being customer centric in everything we do and we constantly focus on providing only the highest level of customer service. We will continue to have only the highest standards in customer interaction and ethics.
What is your personal favorite feature of your product
One of the greatest features of our product is “Follow Me Calling”. In today’s world, we have many options on how and where we take our calls; an office phone, home phone, SIP phone, a personal cell phone or a company cell phone. When running a business it is crucial to be able to answer calls no matter where you are. Nothing is worse for a prospect than calling a business and not being able to reach someone. Sure, they could leave a voicemail, or they may just move on to the next available option.
